Scott is a chemical engineer and research-and-development executive with nearly 30 years of operating experience in the plastics and manufacturing industries. He joined Renee as a partner at Mantis Business Solutions, LLC in 2025, leading the firm's R&D and Engineering practice. Before that, he served as Vice President of Research and Development at a global thermoforming solutions provider, where he helped drive roughly ten-fold revenue growth and more than four-fold workforce expansion.
There, Scott led the launch of new product lines in medical devices and electronics — including a carrier-tape manufacturing plant in Sweden serving a global electronics company — introduced high-speed precision thermoforming as the company's largest business segment, and led an award-winning Aptean ERP implementation spanning sales, inventory, shipping, invoicing, and financials. He also founded and chaired the company's Sustainability Committee, setting a carbon-neutrality target for 2033.
Earlier in his career, Scott was a research engineer at the Center for Applied Energy Research at the University of Kentucky, where he served as Principal Investigator on two U.S. Department of Energy cooperative agreements and improved oil yield 30% in fluidized-bed oil-shale research. He has published in Fuel and contributed to Composition, Geochemistry and Conversion of Oil Shales (Kluwer, 1995).
Renee is a Human Resources executive with 25+ years of experience leading HR operations, benefits strategy, and organizational development at growing manufacturers. She founded Mantis Business Solutions, LLC in 2023 and leads the firm's HR practice, currently serving as fractional Human Resources leader for a U.S.-based manufacturing client.
Before Mantis, Renee spent 25+ years as Human Resources Manager at a global thermoforming manufacturer, where she built the HR function from the ground up as a core member of the leadership team. She led the company's transition to the Paycom HRIS platform — streamlining talent acquisition, onboarding, payroll, and learning management — and managed benefits plan design (fully, partially, and self-funded) for 20+ years.
She pioneered the company's safety function, improving the Safety Score from 86% to 100%, establishing its first Safety Committee, and instituting 35 loss-control policies. Under her leadership, the company was nominated for the Valley Industrial Association Spark Award every year from 2018 through 2023. She also founded an in-house apprenticeship program in partnership with Tooling University, securing an Employer Training Investment Program (ETIP) grant to fund a steady pipeline of skilled tradespeople.
